Are you interested in receiving training and real-life experience in education, exhibits, museum work, marketing or non-profit management?  We want to promote lifelong learning so we are inviting  students enrolled in diverse degree tracks to come get some hands-on experience at Explorium. We are dedicated to providing learning opportunities beyond childhood. Internships are non-paid positions, assignments and projects may vary by individuals’ interests and skills and museum needs. Minimum requirement of 5 hours per week.

Intern of Exhibits and Education.

Responsibilities and objectives may include but are not limited to:

  • Assists in plans, preparation, and facilitation of field trips and group lessons. 
  • Creates/develops onsite activities. 
  • Assists with exhibit maintenance. 
  • Researching and developing exhibits.
  • Researching similar institutions’ programming.
  • Collaborates with staff and interns.
  • Supports Explorium’s Mission to ENGAGE. EXPLORE. EDUCATE.

Intern of Family & Community Engagement

  • Responsibilities may include but are not limited to: 
    • Maintain program evaluation and development of a community outreach plan to welcome all families into our museum
    • Aid in implementing programs such as workshops, parent education, community & outreach events.
    • Develops new ways to promote family engagement in the museum and community. 
    • Practice implementing basic guidance and redirection methods
    • Create literature and new partnerships for outreach programs.
    • Survey development, distribution, and reporting 
    • Cultivates learning through play in exhibit area
    • Gather visitor feedback and/or reviews. 
    • Facilitates positive visitor experience
    • Engaging & Collaborates with visitors, staff and interns
    • Supports Explorium’s Mission to ENGAGE. EXPLORE. EDUCATE.

Supervised by Director of Exhibits and Education & Executive Director

Intern of Homeschool Enrichment & Drop-off Program

Responsibilities and objectives may include but are not limited to:

    • Working with school-aged children specifically ages 5-11
    • Building relationships with children and families in the homeschool program
    • Supporting kids with non-punitive conflict resolution
    • Assisting with lesson plan implementation
    • Learning the importance and methods of informal education.
    • The experience the value of learning through play 
    • Practice implementing basic guidance and redirection methods
    • Assisting and leading educational programs
    • Helping maintain exhibits including cleaning and prepping
    • Collaborates with other interns and staff 
    • Creates and/or facilitates virtual resources 
  • Supports Explorium’s Mission to ENGAGE. EXPLORE. EDUCATE. 

Supervised by Director of Exhibits and Education

Intern of Marketing

  •  Aids in the designs of event and announcement graphics to be displayed in the museum and on social media via Canva
  • Manage and update company membership database management systems (CRM)
  • Collaborates with local DFW family influencers to promote events and museum promotions
  • Maintains Explorium’s branding and brand voice throughout all content
  • Collaborates with other employees to create and capture relevant content
  • Communicates Explorium’s mission and value throughout all content
  • Updates website banners and event page when needed via WordPress
  • Collect quantitative and qualitative data from marketing campaigns
  • Support the marketing team in daily administrative tasks
  • Aids in the design of email newsletters via MailChimp
  • Perform market analysis and research on competition
  • Curates engaging and informational digital content
  • Submits events to DFW family event calendars
  • Help distribute marketing materials
  • Helps organize marketing events
  • All other duties assigned

Intern of Non-Profit Management

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Manage and update company database and customer relationship management systems (CRM)
  • Development of program strategies and procedures to ensure the mission is the driving force.
  • Assist with donor/grant/volunteer retention, recognition and retention.
  • Assist in management of program funding and execution.
  • Aid in implementing the strategic plan for fundraising.
  • Aid in fundraising and grant writing development. 
  • Assist in office organization and record keeping
  • Aid in hiring and interviewing potential playexperts.
  • Participate in monthly board member meeting task
  • Budget development and implementation
  • Supports Explorium’s Mission to ENGAGE. EXPLORE. EDUCATE.
