Last month we had an amazing time at our first annual Touch a Truck event.  It was unbelievable, from all the industries that volunteered their time and vehicles, to the number of families that made the drive to our event.  We sincerely appreciate every person who made Touch a Truck a success.

As an emerging children’s museum we weren’t sure how many would attend; if 400 people came and had a great time it would have been a win. Never did we imagine that 2500 people would attend!

It was almost like a day at Six Flags, with joyful children running from one big truck to the next. We had families enjoying waffles and BBQ sandwiches for lunch. Did you test your painting skills on the old Frenchy’s truck?  And yes, just like Six Flags there was a line for the helicopter, but come on…it was a helicopter!

Remember that donation you made? The funds from Touch a Truck will go towards a scholarship for Denton ISD teachers as well as a mobile museum for Explorium Denton. Soon we will be able to offer interactive science and math programs all over town.

Planning for our Touch a Truck event was done entirely by our volunteer Board of Directors.  We worked hard to make this something our community would enjoy, so there were many late night emails, texts while our kids were at soccer practice and midday lunch meetings.  Denton at its heart is a college town, but as it grows and expands more families are calling it home. Explorium Denton simply wants to support our growing community by providing educational yet entertaining activities for local families. Touch a Truck was great and gets us one step closer to becoming a mobile museum.
